Penny Marshall

Carole Penny Marshall was an American actress.

Penny Marshall, who starred in the hit American sitcom Laverne & Shirley before becoming one of the top-grossing female directors in Hollywood, has died at 75.

Marshall played Laverne, starring alongside Cindy Williams as Shirley, in the hit ABC comedy that aired from 1976 to 1983.

The director Rob Reiner, who was married to Marshall from 1971 to 1981, wrote: “I loved Penny. I grew up with her. She was born with a great gift.

Laverne & Shirley was a spinoff from Happy Days and followed the lives of two single women and their nutty friends in 1950s and 60s Milwaukee. Marshall, known for her bluntness, described the success of the series this way: “We dared to be stupid.”

In addition to the Happy Days spinoff show Laverne & Shirley, Marshall acted as a guest star in numerous TV shows such as '70s comedy series The Odd Couple.

Marshall became the first female director to helm a movie that grossed over $100 million.

Jose Mourinho

Manchester United to appoint caretaker – as it                         happened.

The Portuguese, 55, took over in May 2016 and led United to League Cup and Europa League titles, but they are 19 points behind league leaders Liverpool.

It is understood players and staff are not happy after a disappointing and unsettling period during which young players were not developed.
United are sixth in the Premier League, but closer to the relegation zone than to leaders Liverpool, who beat them 3-1 on Sunday.

A caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the season while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager.

"The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.".

The club hope to appoint a caretaker manager before they face Cardiff City on 22 December but it will not be assistant manager Michael Carrick or academy boss Nicky Butt.
